Microchipping

Every year, we take in many stray animals. Often these animals are dumped, but sometimes they have escaped or been stolen and it is important to be able to track down their owners. Only 1.5% of the animals that come into the rescue are microchipped and we are keen to increase the number of microchipped animals by offering a cheap, simple and easy microchipping service throughout the local area.

Microchipping is a simple, safe and quick procedure which could be the one thing that reunites you with your pet should they go missing. Each microchip is the size of a grain of rice and the procedure, which only takes a few minutes, lasts a lifetime. It is similar to having an injection and you will not be able to see the chip once it has been inserted. If your pet is found, a vet or rescue centre will be able to scan the chip to find your details on a microchip database and reunite you with your pet.

We are fully qualified, experienced an insured to implant microchips and offer microchipping services at the rescue, or from the comfort of your own home (Whitchurch + 10 mile radius). We can microchip cats, rabbits and ferrets.

We use 1.4mm x 10mm ISO microchips that are suitable for all cats, rabbits and other small animals. After we have completed the implanting, we will register your pet through Animal Tracker, a DEFRA registered microchip database. You should receive an email for each microchipped pet registered with Animal Tracker.
